Overview
A Melbourne-based asphalt and bitumen contractor approached Digiown with the goal of building a strong online presence, increasing organic leads, and improving overall ROI from digital marketing. Operating in a highly competitive market, the client needed a solid foundation to compete effectively.
The Challenge
Before working with us, the client had no website and relied solely on social media for visibility. This limited their reach and made it difficult to capture high-intent search traffic. In a competitive city like Melbourne, the absence of a structured online presence significantly restricted their growth potential.
Our Approach
We implemented a comprehensive SEO strategy over a six-month period (December 2023 – May 2024), focusing on building authority and relevance from the ground up. We started with detailed market and user analysis to understand search behavior and intent. This was followed by in-depth keyword research to identify high-impact primary and secondary keywords aligned with the client’s services.
We then developed a structured topical map to cover all relevant service areas and their semantic variations. High-quality, informative content was created to engage users and match search intent. Alongside this, we optimized the website’s URL hierarchy to improve navigation, crawlability, and topical relevance.
On-page SEO improvements included optimizing meta tags with semantically relevant phrases to better align with Google’s NLP systems. A strong internal linking strategy was implemented to distribute authority across key pages. We also added structured data (schema markup) to enhance search engine understanding and visibility in SERPs.
To strengthen trust and credibility, we incorporated expert-level signals and maintained high EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) standards across the site.
Results
Within six months, the impact of the strategy was clearly visible. Monthly impressions increased from 0 to 8,530, while clicks grew from 0 to 145 per month. The website attracted over 1,300 accumulated visitors and began ranking for all targeted keyword variations, with several high-value keywords reaching the top 5 positions in search results. Additionally, the campaign generated nearly 500 goal completions, including quote requests, form submissions, and phone calls.

Conclusion
By building the website from scratch and executing a well-structured SEO strategy, we successfully positioned the client as a competitive player in Melbourne’s asphalt and bitumen industry. This resulted in a significant boost in visibility, traffic, and conversions, creating a strong foundation for long-term growth.
